On Saturday June 12, 2010 Team Muck-A-Doodle-Doo along with 1000 runner took part in the first annual MS Mud
Run.  The course was a 6.3 military style with 18 obstacles mostly in mud and dirt!
This event raised over $150,000 for the National MS Society and I am very pleased to announce that team
Muck-A-Doodle-Doo contributed $2970 to that total!
Thank you to all the runners, volunteers and donors!

The MS Challenge Walk is a Two-Day, 30 mile event set in the beautiful Brandywine Valley on October 23 & 24, 2010.
The route will take you through some of the most picturesque countryside Pennsylvania has to offer.
The route includes
stops at Winterthur & The
Brandywine Valley on Saturday and on Sunday walking through beautiful downtown Philadelphia
and then over to our finale on the Battleship New Jersey.
A feature is that all Challenge Walkers will be spending Saturday night at the Doubletree Hotel in
Wilmington, DE.

The Challenge Walk Spirit Lives ON!!!

The MS Challenge Walk changes the lives of everyone involved, including people with MS. Because all participants
must raise a minimum of $1,500, this event gives local people with MS access to specialized MS clinics, medical
equipment loans, information services, symptom management workshops and transportation. In addition, a
significant portion of every dollar raised is used to support groundbreaking research designed to find new
treatments and, ultimately, a cure for MS.
Our participation means we will be working to support programs, services, and research sponsored by the National
Multiple Sclerosis Society, and that makes a huge difference to the people who must fight MS every day of their lives.
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is dedicated to ending the devastating effects of MS. They simultaneously
fund research for a cure while also helping people who currently live with MS lead more fulfilling lives.
Search through our participants to read personal stories and see why others are participating for MS and why they are
counting on you to join them!
Join as an individual, join a team, or create a team - and help to support the fight against MS.
There is an overwhelming sense of community and accomplishment that comes from being part of this unique event.
The spirit that makes the rest stops, the Comfort Zone, the candlelight ceremony and the finish so special has been
with us from the beginning and will walk with us as we take on the two-day challenge of Brandywine Valley.
The MS Challenge Walk is truly a life-changing experience: when it's all over, you will look back and be astonished
at how many miles you walked, how many friends you made, and how much of an impact you have had on the lives
of people living with MS.

Challenge Walk MS Will Raise $600,000, Draw 400 Supporters

In Tough Economy, Event Is More Important Than Ever for People With MS

PHILADELPHIA, PA--(Marketwire - October 8, 2009) - More than 400 people will accept the challenge to create a world free of multiple sclerosis at Challenge Walk MS 2009 on October 17 & 18.

The two-day, 30-mile journey will take walkers from the Brandywine Valley to historic Philadelphia, and is expected to raise $650,000 for 11,000 local people living with the chronic, unpredictable neurological disease.

Challenge Walk MS is the National MS Society's most mission-driven event, with most participants sharing an intimate knowledge of MS and how it affects people's lives. Many walkers are living with the daily challenges of MS themselves; others walk or volunteer for their parents, children, siblings and friends.

The funds raised by Challenge Walk MS are more important than ever. In this difficult economy, people living with MS are turning to the Society in desperate need of help. For example, requests for vital services such as in-home health assistance have increased by 80% in the past year. The increased demand is stretching the Greater Delaware Valley Chapter's resources dangerously thin.

Challenge Walk MS will cover familiar territory and new ground in 2009, as the event returns to Philadelphia following several years in the Brandywine Valley. Walkers will begin their journey at the Winterthur estate in Delaware on Saturday morning and see Philadelphia's landmarks on Sunday on their way to finish as stars at the Kimmel Center.

Challenge Walker Allison Coia helped plan the chapter's first 50-mile Challenge Walk in 2003. Coia, who lives with MS, has volunteered or walked in the annual event every year since.

"I've met some inspirational people along the way who continue to motivate and drive my passion to find a cure for MS," said Coia, team captain of "Walk-A-Doodle-Doo & Lou."

She and more than 300 other walkers will be joined along the route by National MS Society President Joyce Nelson. In addition to achieving a personal challenge, Nelson's goal is to meet and talk with as many people affected by MS as possible. Another 100 supporters will participate as one- or two-day volunteers.

The walk is fully supported with frequent rest stops; dinner, festivities and an overnight stay; a pre-finish party in Philadelphia and the exciting closing ceremony with friends and family members at the Kimmel Center. Learn more at walk4MS.org or by calling 1-800-883-WALK.

on October 13 & 14, 2007.  Even though we had 6  veteran walkers on the team, we also had 2 rookies
come along for our 30 mile adventure.
Team Walk-A-Doodle-Doo raised over $17,000 and the entire walk raised over $700,000.   The weather
was perfect, the accomodations were awesome and the fun we had while walking for such a great cause
was priceless.

The Marks We Leave

As time goes on and we reflect
On the things we’ve said and done;
The places we’ve been, the people we’ve met
And we think of all the fun.

We realize the marks we leave in life
Aren’t made of stone or steel
But rather of the lives we’ve touched
And how we make folks feel.

For people are far more valuable
Than achievements great and high,
Than cars or planes or space shuttles
Or buildings reaching to the sky.

You and I can leave our mark in life
By doing all we can
To serve and praise and uplift
The lives of children, women and men.

Mark Sanborn
